Our Favorite Dog Friendly Places or Things To Do in Corpus Christi

Our city is becoming more dog friendly each year! How exciting is that? There's more dog friendly stuff to do than ever in Corpus Christi and I'm hoping to discover them all.

Hi, I'm Christy with Texas Doggie Bakery and it's my mission to find the best dog friendly spots in Corpus Christi to take our well mannered pups. Remember to only bring your dog to places if they're well behaved and socialized!

If you own a business that's dog friendly and want it to be featured, email us at TexasDoggieBakery@Gmail.com !

Without further ado... to the list!

15. JP Luby Beach or Padre Island

J.P. Luby is one of our favorites because although it is popular, there is a lot of coast to drive on and not much car traffic so you can find a private spot. The sand is also packed enough to where you can get a good distance to unleash your pup without anyone around. The Corpus Christi Corgi Convention was also held on J.P. Luby and was quite safe!

Padre Island is also good but has more people driving around so keep your pupper leashed unless you drive out to your own spot. In my experience, Padre Island tends to have more seaweed than the other beaches, one time we had to do a running start to jump over it but it sometimes has really clear water for a Texas beach. Bob Hall Pier at Padre Island also has a restaurant that you can eat at on the pier with your dog too.

If you have a car that can't drive on sand at all, opt for Padre Island over J.P. Luby since it has parking.

14. Threads

Threads is a second hand vintage clothing shop that has trendy high end brands and many awesome events and discounts off of Everhart Rd. I personally love to shop there! Last time I was in, they had a photo booth set up and frosty margaritas for shoppers.

Did you know Threads is also dog friendly?

You can go shopping for a dress or a cool hat with your puppy pal!

They have both men and women's clothing.

Bonus: If you're a college student they give a discount on Sunday's and a family military discount on Monday's!

13. Kaiah Dog Park

This is Tofu's favorite dog park, we make the drive allllll the way from Corpus to Portland just for him. Thankfully it's just the first entrance to Portland so it's not that bad of a drive!

It's very large and has plenty of running room compared to the much smaller Corpus downtown Water's Edge dog park. It's busiest around sunset.

12. K9 Coastal Sports

We haven't gone here yet but it's SUPER cool that we have dock diving in Corpus Christi. Is your dog very active and sporty, loves water, or fetching? This is the perfect place then!

You can do a free dive or go to their dock diving classes where they teach your dog the sport.

They also have swimming classes to teach your dog how to swim and be comfortable in water.

We highly recommend them for trying out new cool things with your pup!

11. T.J. Maxx and Home Goods or Ross

We love to go shopping with our pups. Ross and TJ Maxx/Home Goods allows dogs in a cart to shop around.

We did our Christmas shopping at both stores with Tofu in the basket and had a lot of fun.

10. Nueces Brewing Company

I personally didn't know about this place until I heard it on a radio advertisement because it just opened downtown.

Nueces Brewing Company also has craft beer and tastings. They're doing an Oktoberfest party soon that is both family friendly and dog friendly too so check them out!

9. Bus

Bus replaced our old bus station downtown and turned into a large trendy open format bar.

There's a large patio that is dog friendly with water bowls and food trucks parked there to munch at.

It's also walking distance from Art Walk.

8. The Goldfish

I haven't been to the Goldfish but I've heard they have legendary cocktails and was nominated on the Local's List by Bend Magazine.

Their social media is hilarious, plus they're a little hole in the wall downtown!

They have fun drinks and is also a dog and ...horse? friendly bar that is near Art Walk!

7. Half Price Books

Half-Price Bookstores is a good place to find something new to read or sell your old books. Snuggle up in a corner with a book and your dog.

They allow well mannered pups in their store on a leash and have a small coffee shop too.

6. Home Depot

Home Depot is very dog friendly, my dad often takes Tofu in with him in a cart when he needs to restock on items to repair houses with. Tofu loves to smell all the flowers and plants from the cart!

I hear Lowe's is also dog friendly but I haven't been there with Tofu yet so I can't vouch for it.

5. Executive Surf Club

Executive Surf Club is very dog friendly, letting you have your pup anywhere on the patio and has dog bowls.

We advise not to go on a Friday night or any time when playing loud music or you can hurt your pup's ears (try some dog ear protection).

If it is playing you can sit in a different area without music on the other side too. They have trivia nights during the week as well.

4. Joint Venture Sandwich and Smoke Shop

Update: Joint Venture is no longer open :(

Joint Venture is one of our favorite spots in town.

They allow well mannered pups inside and have a Saturday's farmer's market all day on the weekends.

Plus they have actual farmers who sell berries and vegetables along with other awesome vendors!

We set up often at Joint Venture to sell our treats.

3. Corpus Christi Downtown Art Walk (Marina Arts District)

The Corpus Christi Art Walk is held on the first Friday of every month in downtown Corpus Christi. It changes location a lot but generally stays in the same areas.

The Facebook Marina Arts District posts when it appears again but sometimes you'll have to hunt for the location.

One time we went and it was also split into two different places nearby each other! So just keep an eye out! They usually have music playing and vendors around with crowds so it's not hard to spot.

2. Corpus Christi's Farmers' Market (several locations listed)

There are a few farmers' market days that happen around the Coastal Bend! I'll write them out as a list to help you decide which you'd want to check out. We've been to almost all of them and they all have different vendors from each other that sell at each one.

Texas Doggie Bakery personally sells a lot at the Joint Venture Farmers' Market. All of them are dog friendly.

And drum roll.... Our most favorite spot!!!!!

1. Corpus Christi Schlitterbahn Waterpark (AKA Waves Resort CC)

This is our absolute favorite dog friendly thing to do in Corpus Christi.

Did you know that Corpus Christi's SCHLITTERBAHN is dog friendly?

They have a membership for $25 a month for 2 dogs ($10 for any additional dog) and it includes access to their dog park and splash days with your pup.

The splash days are on Saturdays when weather permits with your dog. They allow dog access to a children's pool with waterslides and had a cocktail bar set up. We had such a blast when we went.

Go have a drink, eat some dip n' dots and a corn dog, and have a blast with your pup.

They have water bowls, but it's best to bring your own. They also have their own treats to give the pups and they're large high-quality ones made by their chef! Bring your vet records or have your rabies tag on because they check them at the door to make sure your pup is up to date on shots.

There we have it, our favorite dog friendly places and dog friendly things to do in Corpus Christi.

If I find even more interesting stuff, I'll do another blog post!

I hope y'all enjoyed this list and check some of them out!
